Absolutely. My mom taught 3rd grade for decades and in the heyday of the dolls she kept her classroom stocked with the American Girl books. Most teachers did. Scholastic did. So the kids would read the books because they were approved and encouraged and then they wanted the dolls.
Mattel didn’t understand that the historical stories were a large part of the attraction of the dolls.
“I would normally think they’d stop her at security and say, ‘Ma’am we understand, but there are children here. Games are like a family affair and everyone doesn’t want to see all that,’”
This nomination cracks me up. Disney made such a fuss in all the advertising and in the run-up to the film’s release about it being live action. The whole time I kept scratching my head because it’s still CGI animals. And now they put it up for Best Animated Movie.
People need to decide if The Lion King is live action or animated.
Fuck Harvard to hell. Their endowment interest alone is so large that they could pay the tuition and salary of every student and professor and still make money with not another cent donated.
That’s cute that you think young “Democrats” are responsible for this nonsense. Loving all the Kamala post mortems today when all you did was shit on her.
You don’t get kudos for coming up with the idea to “fire” your accused sex offender brother because he used to be BFF with another sex offender. (If this is true, I don't know what to make of the fact the Queen didn't think of it first.)
It was really cool, not roped off at all. You couldn’t crawl around or lay down inside it, but you could kneel down and pop your head in. It included not just sex partners, but also friends/family members she may have slept with (as in: slept) as a child.
I agree completely. The reason we don’t let victims or relatives of victims pick the punishments for the crimes committed against them is because as a society, we’ve decided that these things should be decided as impartially as possible.
Our constitution does not allow for cruel and unusual punishment. If it did, I have to say, I might allow what he did to all of these beautiful souls—these young women in their childhood—I would allow someone or many people to do to him what he did to others.
How can you mention the era of messy, unlikeable women on TV and not give a nod to the real housewives franchise - that’s the entire brand in a nutshell? (I guess you were only discussing scripted television)
The amount of times the word ‘love’ (or its variations) is incorporated into your divorce announcement is probably directly proportional to how acrimonious the divorce will be.
You will sweat your ass off if you wear this many layers. Even if you’re not used to 40 degree temps - you’re going to be walking a lot, the subways are heated, the buildings are heated. You absolutely do not need a Heattech layer and *two* jackets! This is what I would recommend if we were having a polar vortex. A…
I live here, I’m used to the cold and keep my house at 63 degrees, and I still wore the boots, gloves and coat this weekend. Yes, it got nearly to 50 once or twice in the past few days, but it varies a lot and a wind can drop the subjective temp 20 degrees in a hurry. It’s a lot worse if you’re not used to it - I was…
90% of the comments are “here’s what I, someone who does not live in the city, thought I should wear when I visited for 2 days that one time in 1996" rather than “I live here and here’s what you need to be comfortable and not look like a tourist.”
I’m feeling very gaslit by these comments. You don’t need long underwear unless its in the 20s or below, and even then you can just wear tights under your jeans. I only wear long underwear when it’s single digits or lower. But if you are coming in the next couple weeks it will be in the 40s and 50s mostly which (even…
Are you moving, or just going for a short trip and then going back home? Everyone has really good advice here for a trip, but if you’re moving, I’d add that you don’t want to buy anything in LA—work with whatever coat/s you have for now, and figure out New York as you go along. I second the thrift/consignment store…
If mailing anything to NYC, make sure you’re mailing to an address with a door person, your work, or somewhere where you have an agreement to tip for packages. I had so many packages stolen from my building... or in the case of a UPS fail... they left my box ON THE STREETS OF NYC. ...As for those “space bags,” I used…
