Best case scenario you have the people like target who are just weaselly and donate to both sides to cover their bases. It’s all a hot mess
I feel like this is already pretty hard to do, and is likely to get more difficult.
During the Amazon boycott a week ago, I found out Zappos is owned by Amazon, and I was very sad. I do love Zappos.
I used to boycott Walmart, but now I live in Walmart country and literally can’t get groceries anywhere else.
I try not deal with the worst of them, but honestly it feels pretty impossible, as nearly every company is owned/run by some rich shithead who supports Trump because they want tax cuts and relaxed regulation, and doesn’t care how evil anything else Trump does is as long as they get what they want.
In NYC or elsewhere? If NYC like I said maybe it's industry-specific? My industry (TV) can be very self-important and up its own butt so I'm sure that adds to it. I will say a lot of people do actually get in at 10 but will then stay until like 7 or 8 which is a hard no for me.
It’s fine if people wake up in the middle of the night, can’t go back to sleep, and figure “what the heck, I’ll go ahead and be productive” ... but come on. Expecting others to actually REPLY during those weird hours ....they can fuck right off.
I’ve heard from multiple people that the NYC work culture is really different from most other places (perhaps other big cities are similar), especially in certain industries. At my office, we’ve tricked people into thinking 9-6pm are normal work hours, and responding to emails/slack messages on nights/weekends is…
I believe in some work cultures...sometimes emails at odd hours are more performative than an actual indicator that significant work is happening 24 hours a day....just a theory.
Here is a good reason not to like Leo:
God bless you for asking this. In all honesty, if you can find an AirBnB where its not a whole house/the owner lives there, the city and its residents very much support those. Our problems are only with people and non-local buying up loads of houses. If it’s comforting our city council just voted to restrict AirBnb to…
If he gets it, I’m sure I get a tour!
Today, my kid sang all the Da-da-da-da-da’s in “You’ll be Back” with me. Her dad denied this was possible (she’s only 2) but she’s been to Hamiltunes and was captivated. She’s also my kid so musical theater is in her blood. That made my heart happy.
My husband had a job interview. It went REALLY REALLY WELL. He will…
Meh that's always disappointing though
I was just now out getting dinner, and the car in front of me had a Biden sticker on it. I was like, “Well, OK . . . if that’s the choice you’re making at this stage in the game. . . .”
Ugh that always sucks though. Is this the kind of thing where they might also have had an internal candidate?
There was someone on my street in Houston who had a Ben Carson sticker on their car...
Yeah, it’s actually a surprisingly complex question. Early articles weren’t intentionally misgendering them, their trans identity just wasn’t known. Once it was though, it is still complicated. They were only out to a few people, so is it respectful to them to use the preferred pronouns they used when with those…
yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen much mention outside of that Splinter article, but I think there was rumor/speculation that they were not out to their family, so I wonder if there was already disapproval/distancing/estrangement, or something similar.
I am honestly not even sure what to think or how families should handle this.
