While I’m not a fan of Coumo, the politco story makes clear that the decision is made by the Board of Elections, which Coumo has no control over, and that they’re only handing over publically available data (which ugh, but like is also a thing the commission could get via web scraping or the like and so a harder fight

Yeah the email first approach usually leads to something like 15-20 rounds of email to get to that confirmation email. And sometimes there’s a blow up before you even get there cause of the nature of email convos.

Emails (and IM) are proof that something was said or agreed. And even if proof is not neccesary, if you forgot something, it’s there.

This video even had a functional use case of sorts-self adjusting hoods could possibly be useful to people with motor issues. Someone downthread mentioned all sorts of stuff with zippers - a nanobot that can zip up the back of a dress would be amazing.

Slate’s Amicus podcast about the court is excellent and some of their people have been arguing on for a very long while that while very conservative, Roberts tends to be a hardcore institutionalist and that tends to end up pushing him more centerist.

Schumer’s Facebook page and twitter feed is where you’ll see all the posts blaming the Dems, though I take ‘em with a grain of salt ‘cause many of ‘em read so very prepackaged bot.

I’ve voted for Green candidates before and my problem is that it’s absurdly difficult to find any information on their candidates. Like their candidate for Schumer’s seat (yeah, lost ‘cause but still...) put out a youtube video and a webpage manifesto and... that was it. Like not even the vaguest fig leaf of an

And something like that could probably even get Dem support and so not need the Paul/Cruz faction...or really lot of the party...alas, it would also yield smaller tax cuts and so won’t ever happen.

I mentor high schoolers every summer and at the end they have a symposium w/ poster and after a not great showing one year my kids (usually boys) now get a full lecture on what’s appropriate to wear for the event.

It is at Russian funerals... I used to judge my like 3rd cousins so hard for the stuff they wore to my great grandfather’s funerals but then one of my brother’s friends died and it was the first funeral for most of his friends and they were so very clueless about it that I became much more sympathetic. I now get that

The CBO and every single analysis of the house bill has said that it disproportionately hurts old people and rural people ‘cause those are the two most expensive groups to insure. That’s why there’s so little support for this bill among the Republican base.

Ugh, this isn’t even remotely surprising, but it does make my heart go out to addicts and their family members, in some ways especially the ones who voted for Trump hoping he’d do something.

Pence wouldn’t have cause he’s still at his core a big business Republican and pretty much every business that really matters in the US was pro Paris. Literally the only reason to pull out is egomaniacal “I’m gonna make a better deal” and that’s not Pence.

Nixon declared the war on drugs in 1971.

My mother reuses sample containers as travel size containers.

Schumer won all but the smallest district in NY, so he’s not so disliked.

Schumer is my senator and I get the feeling it’s cause he likes being a king maker/powerbroker/secret master of the universe. Like rumor has it that he’s why Warren ran cause he was pissed at the last guy in the seat. He’s likely out there cause to be a power broker, the Dems have to have power.

Same here. Like not a fan of Coumo, but I’ve voted for him twice and would do so for president if it came down to it. The only person I struggle with is Bernie (it’s a downright visceral distaste), but I’d even vote for him cause at the least his cabinet and court nominations likely wouldn’t be terrible.

Perez has worked administration jobs though, so still has experience. Gillibrand/Murphy/Kander might have wide appeal if they try. Either way though, not really about the specific people-more that Dems have an interesting base that should be mined rather than the media pushing people nobody wants.

I think there are sliding scales of hate and Booker in particular seems to be extremely loathed.
