I wonder if they’ll just chop it up for other uses. My school is in an old department store and we’ve got some beautiful remnants of that down in the lobby and library, but the upper floors are all chopped up into offices and the like.

But if they’re planning around particular exhibitions, it’s unlikely that those would be staples of the MoMA collection. And I feel like the venn diagram of people who care enough about art to plan major trips around exhibitions but who would be upset about MoMA taking a stand with it’s art is kinda small.

These are all works from their collection, so it’s stuff they already own and presumably would usually display (but not at quite these quantities). They’re still displaying a decent amount of stuff from their usual collection, though not quite as much.

I’ve been really proud of how quickly CUNY has mobilized on this, but we’ve got a graduate student who’s been denied entry and lots of students, faculty and staff who are at risk because of this policy.
