Are you really even a car guy if you’re hating on his collection? There’s some really nice and collectable cars that I can see in that picture. I get you want to hate on this guy, but you just seem whiny at this point. Call him out for his murals and his donation, but why the cars? You realize a lot of those cars are

Good for the the Old School Comm Center, bad for us ticket buyers.

LOL, you seem mad bro. This shit happening publicly is just a representation of the brazenness we have gotten to (like 1/6). But to think this kind of stuff wasn’t happening behind closed doors before now is laughable.

Nobody forced you to look up pictures of the inside of his personal garage and then post them in attempt to smear him, like it or not.

Bradley, I don’t agree with this guy’s money and how he spends it, but it’s not fucking weird. It’s just memories, and we all saw this unfold on TV. We all need an outlet for frustration - be it a mural, automotive journalism or having discourse on kinja.

No, the mural is part of our nation’s history, like it or not. Car collection is as expected.

Wikipedia says he served in Vietnam and received a purple heart... so I’m going most likely a “freedom isn’t free” and/or “never forget” type of thing.

I believe the old saying about the last gen Evo is that it was a $40k drivetrain that came with free seating.

If they don’t do a hatchback, I don’t give one single fuck about this car. I know I am not alone.

The shocking part is: they haven’t really ‘lost’ a race. They were check-mated by Verstappen’s mega in- and outlap in France, but they’ve really been beaten on merit everywhere. In fact, they actually ‘stole’ the Bahrain GP which, pace wise, should’ve been a Red Bull win.

Reliability has also massively padded Lewis’ stats. Hamilton has had 11 mechanical DNF’s in his career, in 14+ seasons.

“but it is clear that Hamilton’s success has been from driving the best car on the grid (albeit, very well)“

Looking at the responses, I suppose I did. But I genuinely didn’t think it’d be necessary.

Stop expecting journalism and accept that Jalopnik is mostly an opinion forum. I rolled my eyes at both these parts of the story as well.

I call BS. Toto and Hamilton have been playing the victims all year long saying their car is slower etc. etc.

Correct. It’s always an excuse when teams claim to have stopped development. It’s also bullshit. Every team has a similar development cycle, with a project planning including milestones that won’t differ too much. Teams know that the media won’t follow up, so when Mercedes do bring upgrades, nobody’s going to throw

“Seb Vettel lasted just four (and it lucked into half of those)” - really? Luck is part of racing - a win is a win and shouldn’t be discounted. Did Hamilton luck into joining Mercedes coinciding with their renaissance? Did he luck into his seven championships?

I call BS. Toto and Hamilton have been playing the victims all year long saying their car is slower etc. etc. when it’s been mostly bizarre circumstances (Bottas’ wheel nut, Lewis hitting the magic brakes button) that have kept them out of 1st place (or damn near) in the championship. It’s just excuses so IF they lose

I wouldn’t say Bottas is stabbing himself in the back. Mercedes seems to be doing a perfectly good job of that for him
