That's the best part of watching a marathon! You can see just about any body type you can imagine and body type is no predictor of time! I always walk away totally inspired.

At 5'9" and 185 lbs I am a US 14/16 which puts me not too far from the size of the woman here. Is my BMI shitty? Yep. Am I still running because I love it and I love a good challenge? Yep. Am I "fat" by any means? Ummm - no. I have curves but I am not fat or as another commentator described women of my size:…
I've done a lot of marathons. Many good runners have a few extra "ellbees" as we call them, even up to overweight and obese. And many of the folks I ran with were very, very fast. It's cool to see this getting attention, but this isn't an issue in the running world that I know of. It's just an accepted thing.
"Here's proof that there's no such thing as too fat to run" as the headline about a woman who is a UK size 18. How is a woman who is a UK size 18 "proof" that there is "no such thing" as too fat to run? She is proof that someone who is pretty overweight , but not SUPER DUPER OBESE, is not too fat to run. Maybe if…
I have never understood the appeal of Vegas. From where I'm sitting, you saved a bunch of money and protected your liver.
I work for a large youth non-profit. I see about 350 9 year olds a day right now.
Oh, is this where I say none and then you tell me that my comment is invalid?
My friend and I were dropped off at the public pool with $5 each while our parents worked during the summer starting at about 8 years old and until we were about 13 or so. We didn't fall over and die instantly once outside of their field of vision.
You know, that was my first thought, but when I was that old, I walked home from school by myself, I'd go exploring with my friends without supervision, sometimes for hours. There was probably a very miniscule chance that something bad would have happened to me, but you have to balance that small risk against allowing…
Sure it is. My childhood was unsupervised. I was basically pushed out the door and told to be home when the street lights came on.
Of course it's okay. We're talking about a 9-year-old, not a 4-year-old.
What's really upsetting about this story is that it's happening at the same time as reproductive rights restrictions. So: Don't have an abortion, don't have access to birth control, but once you have that kid, child care? You're on your own.
Even going with the notion that they didn't know what the Challenger disaster was, who would look at the picture and think "fireworks"?
um, I would recognize pictures of Pearl Harbor being bombed and I was born 30 some years after the fact. Not being of the time in question is no excuse to not know historical events.
Nothing like a white dude telling women how to feminist, is there?
You might want to look up the definitions of 'feminism' and 'feminist.'
Thanks for letting us know you don't think men and women should be equals.
Say what you will, but in my day we KNEW about shit that went down before we were born. And this was before the nets.
Bullshit. Having equality doesn't mean treating people the EXACT SAME WAY no matter what. You have to take into account someone's experiences, whether they're male, female, gay, straight, black, Hispanic, anything like that. You wouldn't stop a rape victim and start cracking rape jokes even if you'd do that to someone…
