Muppet Babies—-they're all muppets and babies. What about the rest of us?

"Gee, this Mad Men show doesn't have a lot of doctors in it" — other brilliant commentary from this guy.

This reminds me of a comment I saw - maybe here, maybe on tumblr, I can't remember - from a woman whose boyfriend was all, "I really liked The Hunger Games, but what if the main character had been a boy?" and she rightly called him out on his bullshit.

True, and TV shows never focus on a small group of people doing something different from the majority.

Women are 50% of the population and there are literally 10 times more TV shows where the overwhelming majority (>75%) of the cast is male than female. But God forbid NO ONE THINK OF THE MENZ in those few shows.

But think of all the men incarcerated in those women-only prisons! Dont THEY have a story to tell?

maybe the dude is just jonesin' for some hot man on man prison secks on his teevee ???

well done fella...

And zero percent of real life involves anthropomorphic talking dinosaurs, yet dinosaur train is on at my house all the damn time. Stories don't have to take into account all of society to be valid stories. If they did, we'd never get past the expository stuff at the start because that part would be 2000 pages of

Yeah, where were all the ladies in Oz? TOTALLY underrepresented.

100% of the prison population in a women's prison is... women.

Can we PLEASE just have this one thing?

From the piece: "The victims of the prison system the Netflix show satirizes are overwhelmingly male. Leaving them out reinforces old stereotypes that hurt both genders."

...........because it's a show about women in prison. Not a show about men in prison. Why is this concept so hard?

He's not wrong, but he IS an asshole. The show is about a WOMEN'S PRISON, is it not? I mean... of course there are no men in a women's prison. IT'S A WOMEN'S PRISON. And it's not like they arbitrarily chose to only show women, or chose a women's prison specifically— it's based on a book that are about a female

I really want to know this asshole's opinion on the lack of women in the following shows:

- Escape from Alcatraz
- Shawshank Redemption
- The Green Mile
- Oz
- The Rock

I'm curious about how many articles this guy wrote about the mis- and under-representation of women in television shows. Must be thousands!

I wonder what the population of women in women-only prisons is? I bet it's higher.

I had a friend in grad school in DC who bought something at Ann Taylor and used her student ID for a check. The person who was ringing her up said (with a vocal fry, of course), "I think it's really great that you're a student and can still shop at Ann Taylor. I really respect that."
