I still think Emily is far too reverent of the original text, which is not deserving of this kind of ridiculous worship written in prose nearly as clunkily flowery as what was featured in this series. But holy shit did they fumble the fucking landing.

I don’t know, I thought the use of the “twin thing” throughout the episode came to a devastating head when Luke realizes he’s not feeling phantom withdrawal, but is actually feeling his sister’s death. That genuinely, actually moved me. Those poor twins. I love them.

You don’t have to like the show but definitely don’t tell me what to do or think? Like, what purpose did this comment have?

I’m not dismissing your overall take but I do think it is worth it to put local context here, because DC tends to exist as a place that is understood as the seat of government and little else.

What a scary and wonderful episode, what a brutally, brutally sad ending. It did what I think so many King adaptations have missed, which is elevate the emotion that makes horror so potent. Not just Ruth watching her dead love’s blood off her, but of putting on a pretty dress, doing her makeup, her hair, getting ready…

What does he need that car for? Oh, who knows? Why does he change into, then out of, Matthew Deaver’s funeral suit? Oh, who knows? Why does a crow fall at his feet as he arrives at Juniper Hill? Oh, who knows? Why does he let Henry sign him into Juniper Hill if he’s going to break out before nightfall? Oh, who knows?
