You are not comparing apples to apples.  Model S should be compared to the Porsche Taycan...that sold 1635 units from April to June.   Doesn’t look so terrible now.

Yup, tonneau covers are never 100% waterproof like the trunk of a car. They always let some water in, but do a good job of keeping the vast majority of it out. That's what these photos seem to show.
