Resembles... 2014 Jeep Cherokee’s weirdo DRLs. (as in, it didn’t work then, it doesn’t work now. IMO.)
1st Gear: That’s old news and has been the case for at least a year. However... about this statement:
It makes a golf cart look expensive.
Not sure the point of the comparison. The Hongguang Mini EV‘s base price is almost a tenth (yes tenth) of that of the Model 3…I would worry if it wasn’t outselling the Tesla. It makes the Bolt look expensive.
@1st gear: that’s one of the dumbest takes on Morning Shift in...I guess a few days. The Hongguang Mini isn’t even close to the Tesla Model 3 in terms of capability nor price. So the big news is that a small EV that wouldn’t be road-legal in many countries including the US, sells for about 1/10th the price of a Model…
1st Gear: A lot of China’s population doesn’t actually make all that much money. Yes, even now after years of growth. Their upper class and upper middle class have ballooned, but the blue collar population is still massive. Combine that with small streets and often limited parking and a smaller car makes sense. The…
More bigger screen = more funner times
It’s something to do while charging. As long as it’s only available when the vehicle is in Park, I don’t see an issue with games or even video services.
I missed the part of the story where after he hit his turn signals, he leaned outside of the car to see if they were actually flashing. Obviously if his MCU (media control unit for screen/speakers) is frozen, he’s not going to see an indication of the turn signals on said frozen screen, in the same way that as he…
Yeah, this story is nonsense. The screen is independent from critical driving functions. The hazards, turn signals, etc. all continue working, even with the screen totally off. You just don’t get any indication in the car that they are on. Even autopilot will continue to run without the screen. I’ve rebooted the…
Some things in this story don’t make sense to me.
Aren’t Rivian’s “hand built?” I’m not seeing anything like this on a Rivian.
Manufacturers show imperfect pre- and early production vehicles to the press and public all the time.
“Uh.... Is it also unfair to pick apart a almost 10 year old car Model S cars from Tesla now for its shoddy build quality?”
Is it also unfair to pick apart a almost 10 year old car Model S cars from Tesla now for its shoddy build quality?
It’s unfair to pick apart a prototype for its specific issue related to non-serial build quality. General issues and serial build quality will be enough to pick it apart when its time.
I’m all for getting weight out of vehicles, but it’s not just EV’s that are the problem. Like, yes, the Ariya, Ioniq 5, and Mach E weigh 4500-4800lbs. Meanwhile, a Murano or Edge (for reasonably similar models) are 4000-4600lb (seriously, the Edge is chonky). Hell, a new M240i (what’s supposed to be a small BMW) is…
Potentially putting thousands, if not millions, of four- and five-thousand-plus pound vehicles on the road could have serious consequences in car accidents.
First of all, every single one of these heavy EVs has every safety system already baked in because of the higher overall cost. They have emergency braking, collision avoidance and lane centering as standard. Thus, they are better at avoiding hitting other obstacles than the average vehicle around them.
