“Why not try to be the 1990's Hyundai of EVs?”

You literally just described the Chevy Bolt.

Repeal direct sales bans and let the customers decide.

-Large manufacturers don’t generally want to be in the sales game and vice versa. There’s a reason people buy everything from places like Walmart and Amazon instead of directly from the factory that made it.

This doesn’t surprise me.

And people still talk shit about Tesla...

GM did not put in $2 billion. They were granted $2 Billion in Nikola stock (11% of the company) for agreeing to design and build Nikola a version of the GM electric truck. GM will also be paid $700 million in addition to getting $2 billion in stock. Zero dollars are flowing from GM to Nikola is this partnership.

After 10 years a lot of things in a car stop holding quite so fast. Sunshades start to sag, new rattles pop up (maybe they were there from the first week if you own a Subaru...), and everything’s just not as firm as it used to be.

That top picture...

I feel like if more non-car people knew the Bolt existed, it might’ve done a little better, but GM’s marketing is horrendous. It’s a good car for what it is.

I think the Bolt is just fine, the problem is that people see a $15, 20k vehicle, and are shocked to find out it stickers north of 30k.

OK, just let me get this straight. GM is selling cheap EV’s in China, made for China, in China and couldn’t possibly sell them in America do to pretty much everything from regulations, cost, and and actual market segment that doesn’t exist in America, so fuck them for not doing this. GM then makes partnerships with

“People are really into a handsome electric car that you can actually afford? Interesting. Maybe GM should give that a go here. Just a thought.“

The problem with a flat tax of any sort is that it will always impact the poor harder than the wealthy.

“Scrapping all CAFE and CARB regulations and replacing them with a flat fuel tax.”

Some common components but not a shared chassis.

Small cars are the norm in Europe. They have smaller roads... and people.

The mistake you’re making is assuming that an average Tesla in this particular situation wouldn’t make the same mistake

It wouldn’t, because an average Tesla driver isn’t watching a movie. A level 2 system is meant to be used alongside the driver.

The mistake you are making is you are trying to show that the WORST amongst people is a representation of the AVERAGE amongst people.
