I didn’t mean to suggest that the term was racist against white people by POC- it’s clearly not. I meant that if you use the term, it implies that you think of non-white people as “trash not otherwise specified”- and I agree, it’s classist as hell.

No, you don’t- ‘white trash’ is implicitly racist, and indicates that you think of non-white lower-class people as just unmarked ‘trash’. It’s a shitty remark- and not because it’s somehow racist against white people.
I’m an Ivy-educated academic with a PhD in linguistics and you could not be more wrong about this. You have no concept of what dialects are. Please read some literature about this. Prescriptivism kills.
I know this was posted over a year ago but that’s such a great line.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE.
If you like his blog, you’ll love his interview here: http://anandbhatt.skyrock.com/3288314350-Do-you-Dislike-Your-Own-Culture-Philosophy-meets-Art-with-Dr-Benedict.html (side note: this website is crazy on its own). And if you google him you’ll find he’s made his own Wikipedia page.
Thanks for that. I was hoping somebody would say this.
SECONDED.
SECONDED.
This is in childhood though. I didn’t vote and I didn’t care about voting when I was 5 years old.
Is this an attempt at nachos?
Bring ice. Parties always run out of ice.
Sorry to be that pedant, but you want ‘delendus’ (masc.) here.
I have a Martha Stewart brand one and it is garbage (enamel falling off, handle falling off, and I’ve used it pretty constantly for about 5 years), so I wouldn’t recommend all knockoffs. But I bet Cuisinart is pretty good.
I think they mean ‘zealous’, not ‘jealous’.
He’s really pretentious. I was on a James Joyce tour of Dublin with him earlier this year and he 1) tried to one-up the tour guide at every turn (although he was never really successful, because all his ‘surprise facts’ were well-known) and 2) brought an even more annoying friend along who did the same thing.
