Love it! I bet this thing corners like it’s on rails now.

There’s only a roughly 60-70lb difference between an Ecotec and LS series V8 with aluminum block anyway, and that’s not considering the mass of a larger turbo or aftermarket intercooler parts. So my assumption would be negligible difference in weight distribution.

Also, look at how much empty space there is in that engine bay.

Maybe not quite 911ish since the masses are between the wheels, but it would indeed be more likely to increase turn-in and drop-throttle response as well as corner exit traction. Better, better, and better.

“When I die, I want to go peacefully like my grandfather did–in his sleep. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.”

Eh, believe it or not, adding an iron block 4, a turbo, intercooler and requisite plumbing, it’s probably within 100 lbs or so of an Al LS1. Plus, the car seems to not have any bodywork, so I’d imagine they’re not going to have much trouble moving weight or ballast around if necessary :)

It is very common to test on AWD dynos with modern fwd and rwd cars. If you don’t the traction control systems tend to go haywire.

Gotta admire anybody who reads the rulebook closely enough to maintain the letter of the law, only to beat the spirit of it within an inch of its life.

It’s a bizarre as putting a V8 into anything that doesn’t have a V8 in it to begin with. Sticking a V8 into a car to make it go faster is the lazy way to performance improvements.

Hey, at least they used an Ecotec. Would’ve been complete blasphemy if they used an Ecoboost.

Privilege, not right.

Agreed, but needs more louvers.

It’s heartwarming to see people helping others in a time of need.

To be fair (and might make an interesting motor related article), most if not all light standards are designed to be sheared just like the video showed, lowing the chances of fatalities when hit.

Unless I am quite mistaken, this is actually the popular opinion.

Unpopular opinion: All notchbacks are uglier than their hatchback counterpart.

Here, let me help you: it looks better.

I think you mean Celica Supra (both best Celica and best Supra).

still can’t decide if it’s better or worse than Toyota’s current front ends.
