Batteries wear out, just as they always did. I’ve always gotten 5-10yrs out of a battery.

Plenty have blown up or been wrecked already.
That’s horrid for a JY build.
Someone’s doing something wrong:
A good vinyl floor is where it’s at.
I currently have 2 early 90s Voyagers. 1 is sitting at 187k, original driveline. The other I just replaced the trans at 199k, which failed from years of hard abuse, leading to the diff pin shearing. They are finally starting to need some suspension bits here and there as 20+yrs and almost 200k, they’re wearing out. My…

Same respects, attentive driver would have seen the SUV wasn’t going to stop and avoided the crash.
I won’t say it’s 100% his fault, but an attentive driver would have seen the SUV wasn’t going to stop and avoided plowing into it.
I had to take the test twice. My tester had never heard of a car with hi/lo range, failed me for using 4th gear in town (lo range). Did everything else perfect.
My experience differed by far. Dad had numerous 70s cars (all GMs) take him well over 200k without issues. His 75 Cutlass had 402k when he sold it, still original driveline, no rebuilds.
I beg to differ from my experience. Been stranded by more low-mileage newer cars more times than any high mileage 80s or 90s car.
Our 84 F150 had 384k when we sold it. Never had the motor apart, trans was original.
The 94 is my go to, go anywhere vehicle (27x8.5 AT tires) with the 3.0/3-spd combo. It’s not the fastest, but I would trust it to take me across the country right now.
Don’t forget trans issues and electronics issues.
I still see 80s cars on a regular basis around here, and that’s coming from the rust belt.
It makes me wonder how the average person even got a license to begin with. People on the roads these days are idiots.
You must have gotten a good one. The 2012 S we had was an absolute pile of crap. Engine failed 3x, trans failed 2x, horrid mileage, no power, rattles everywhere.
I’ve seen and owned many 90s cars. They’ve all made 200k+ without issue. Never had a newer car that could hit 100k without issue.
