Not sure if anyone has read the China Mieville book KRAKEN, but in that novel about cults and their various competing apocalae (very plural) there is one faction called the Bullet Farmers. Their guns plant the eggs of other guns by shooting and murdering you, and new guns are born by feeding on the corpse the “eggs”…
