I quit over twenty years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I don’t recall any special consideration one way or the other for Jews by the JWs. Just the typical “Jesus was the Messiah and fulfilled the Covenant, so God’s moved on” philosophy most(?) Christians have. I assume you’ve just run into JW normies who can

I was raised a Witness, but quit when I was 18. There’s a difference between simply leaving the faith and being disfellowshipped. As I understood it, only baptized Witnesses could be disfellowshipped, and only following serious breaches of doctrine. For instance, no longer attending meetings wouldn’t be grounds for

The principle is the same, though. Never assume the cheapest option is the least expensive.

DC will just painfully brand you and expect someone else to take care of the rest.

Goddammit, John.  Colorado’s reputation is tenuous at best.  We don’t need you tipping the scales against us.

Approved.

Nah, fuck the CEOs. I was going to make a “why not both” crack because $40,000 is better than $20,000, but the US military budget is almost $700B, and while that’s massively out of proportion to what we need, it should be terrifying that ten people are “worth” more than the entire goddamn military. Now I’m just angry.

They’re inalienable rights when we’re talking about what I do. They’re privileges that can be taken away when we’re talking about what you do.

In order to protect free speech, we must stop these accounts from exercising free speech.

She has a D after her name.  Nothing she says will gain conservative favor, so why bother?

This is an excellent idea and addresses many of my concerns about court packing. Expanding the current system by a couple of seats just feels like escalating a game Democrats are already bad at. Something like this that redefines how the Court functions feels much more like reform than revenge.

The best kind of correct.

Honestly? No idea. I’m just desperately trying to avoid a mind-numblingly boring project at work, and thought it’d be fun to call Manafort “Paulie.”

I mean, the judge over the Manafort hearing is a Trumpist, too, but those lawyers still managed to convince him Paulie needed a few years of jail time.

Yup. I don’t blame you if you choose not to believe me, as that’s certainly not how things work now, but this was late ‘98, and I was living in the dorms in a tiny mountain college town.

I do remember them processing debits *before* credits, since credits-before-debits was a selling point of the bank I switched to. Rent due on payday? Hope you’ve already got enough in the bank to cover it.

Definitely, though the Jezebel team does seem to be quicker all around.  Better developed snark senses, maybe?

Exactly, so consider how surprised I was to check my bank balance. Unfortunately, this was 21 years ago, so I don’t have the ATM receipts any longer.  As I recall, they charged multiple NSF fees, and then also charged daily negative balance fees which were much higher.

I opened my first adult bank account with Wells Fargo.  A few months in I bounced a $2 check (I was a broke college kid), and within a week had $650 in fees from a fifty-cent overdraft.  I just never went back to the bank and opened a new account elsewhere.  That must be why they kept your extra payment.

I check CNN for breaking news.  I check Splinter for snark and lefter-than-me analysis.  I’m okay if that takes a little extra time.
