And less than a week later somebody said they wanted Formula E in downtown Austin and Epstein said “GTFO, noob!” Everybody wants to protect their product... even when it’s practically a monopoly.

Part of the problem is that SMI owns a large contingent of tracks, almost all of which have spots on the NASCAR schedule. SMI has a lot of clout with NASCAR. If they don’t want something to happen, that thing won’t happen.

There are better options, but the wife likes them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The downtown circuit better pass by COTA’s office if this happens. They could also go past the downtown Cooper’s BBQ location. Drivers would crash, distracted by the smell of sweet, sweet smokey Q.

I think the quiet nature of FE cars is the key here. Although a screaming V10/12/8 in downtown Austin is enticing...

I hope they do it on a college football Saturday. Not only would it be spectacularly stupid to directly compete with the Longhorns a few blocks away, traffic would be an even bigger nightmare than it already is. But hey, maybe they could get some free pub from ESPN?

One would go out, I’d replace it, then the other would go out. A mechanic told me a couple years ago that it was because condensation got in the light housing and shorted it. Leased a newer vehicle about a month later so no idea if that was actually the issue.

I drove a 2001 Silverado for almost 10 years and several of those years were spent without a bezel. The latch was also garbage and you had to really pull on it to get it to open.

The “writers” for the Texas A&M SB Nation page frequently stamp their feet and fuss when they’re not granted media credentials for home games. That’s because the A&M SID office knows what SB Nation is, and isn’t interested in giving a bunch of randos free access.

I watched (almost all of) The Martian on a flight to Seattle last July. It was the first time I’d seen it and I still haven’t finished it. No idea how it ends.

My father-in-law refuses to actually hire his own people. He’ll sit in on interviews and ask some questions, but he doesn’t want to be responsible for the decision. He leaves that up to two quasi-superiors who haven’t been there nearly as long as he has.

Not a pickup truck.

Ferrari Plaid.

Good dog

I like this.

Camaro Cars & Coffee Crash has a good ring to it.

My dream for Roborace is the most insane cornering speeds ever seen from a four-wheel vehicle. Taking the squishy human out of the equation means we can push the limits of what’s possible.

I want to live in a world where F1 cars look like the 60s cars but are as safe as modern LMP1 cars. I’m afraid this is impossible. :(

Return? They’ve been creeping back for a couple years now.

The 60s were easily the best combination of beauty, power and raceability. I think we hit another milestone in the early 90s. Those cars weren’t conventionally beautiful, but they were sleek and striking. Then we went off the deep end with aero bits and it’s been a mess ever since.
