No they’re not, they’re monopolizing of a particular product.
No they’re not, they’re monopolizing of a particular product.
Except, they’re not doing just exclusives, they’re pointedly excluding just Steam. Xbox, PS4, and Epic all get it on launch day. Only the direct competitor to the Epic store is getting shafted. That’s not competition, that’s anti-competitive practices. Toys R Us got in trouble for that because they were doing what…
There is no comparison to Steam, Epic store lacks a lot, comments, reviews, etc. I know I’m not paying the devs, but from a content standpoint Steam offers more to get your game noticed than Exclusives.
Discord Store takes only 10% from developers, so Epic is also more expensive, but after reading the EULA from Epic Store I will never install it, no matter the game.
Vs. “$50 on Epic Store, $60 on Steam, and let customers make their own choices”, instead of this literal doublethink that “deprival is competition”.
Exclusives are a way of admitting you have a shit product.
but they are not giving that option, they are saying “Here is a fat stack of money to only sell through us.” Hoping that the funneling all users through their store front will make up for the investment. If you want people to use your store front, build a better store.
The only people winning in all of this are the publishers cashing all of these checks from Epic.
Why do you care? Are you selling games? You sound like a “Epic bro” to me for defending Epic with something that vast majority of consumers care nothing about. Why do you guys never talk about how great the store itself is? Oh, wait, you can’t because it’s barely a storefront as it is.
Steam, Origin, Uplay, GOG Galaxy, EPIC...sometimes its not about allegiance, its simply about not wanting 9000 different fucking launchers when almost all the games you play are already on just one.
Except Steam has so many features that make it a better launcher. Discordapp is the better alternative for games since they only ask for a 10% cut and they bring a better launcher. Epic doesn’t have the best support team for handling issues and games generally are more expensive there than on Steam due to no regional…
PlayStation example doesn't really work. They make exclusives to push their physical product. On PC it's about selling yourself. App wise, Epic is behind everyone in features. Fucking Origin and Uplay are way more robust.
What could be considered “predatory” pricing strategies coupled with exclusivity clauses is hardly a means for fostering competition.
It’s funny how Epic talks about being against Valve’s “anti-competitive” practices yet are quick to make all of these games exclusive to one storefront meaning there’s no competition. Can’t really have it both ways. The only people winning in all of this are the publishers cashing all of these checks from Epic.
I miss the days when people honored the unwritten rules
This backlash is ridiculous. The software isn’t fantastic, but the catalog is constantly updated and has remained top-notch. Plus, if Crunchyroll had done nothing but keep up with inflation for the past 13 years, they would be charging $8.40/month right now. So even after the price raise, they’re still making less…
there was a youtube video by YongYea about Epic mining your Steam acct for data, and some higher ups jumped in on a Reddit post. Made me extremely hesitant to even consider D/L’ing and using Epic’s client. Might be worth checking out the reddit threads and youtube video if you are so inclined.
Not at all what I said, and you’ve used this faulty analogy in other threads.
The cards in a player’s hand are not visible to the opponent. Half the point of the game is in predicting what might be in the player’s hand, without any ability to see it for oneself.
In a fighting game like Smash, the opponent’s position is…
The dude rage quit... its as simple as that. No special treatment or consideration should be offered to those who give into this baser human feelings. Grow tf up. Everyone deals with issues of rage and anger... you’re not special.
I dunno about the “coaching” argument.
If we’re going to buy audience-shouted advice as “coaching,” then that same standard would have to apply to folks shouting advice to the referees from the nosebleeds in NCAA games, to fighters in boxing/MMA matches, and to officials in futbol matches (and the advice to futbol…
