Oh my fucking god. So getting Japanese characters tattoo’d on you is now cultural appropriation?

Get the fuck out of here.

Look, we’ve all laughed at those people who got a Chinese character tattoo that thought it meant “spirit” or something, but it instead meant “soup”. But thats about the extent of it. The person

I mean is it really our job to be outraged for the citizens of Japan when they seem to feel no outrage at this situation?

Uproar over cultural appropriation is BS 99% of the time. I think culture if too often conflated with ethnicity as well. It’s natural for culture to spread.

I like this one. It always seems like those not involved or affected in any way are the ones making the biggest stink about things. Im gonna go ahead and appropriate this quote.

Why, did they garner free marketing and publicity for a year on one storefront, only to pull their game for more paid-off pastures just before launch?

That 1.5 million units times the extra 2 dollars is 3 million dollars.

Yes, Steam built those features over time - that’s really quite besides the point. If I were to bring a car to market today with no radio, no A/C, no power steering or brakes, etc. - how do you think I’d fare against the competition? It wouldn’t matter much that I was just a new guy in the biz (which Epic isn’t,

Maybe this would be a better example of what you’re suggesting if it didn’t come with a $10 discount?

Steam purportedly makes 30% on the sale. $60-18= $42.

You are doing a poor job on selling me on less-features-is-good.

...but you must also be aware of how expensive it is to develop games.

They’re fighting back against a shitty move. Publishers need to know which lines to cross and which not to. Would you have wanted EA to have had no push-back from turning Battlefront 2 into a Pay-to-Win game with lootboxes? The majority of gamers didn’t want their product to be that way so they pushed back.

Epic’s store leaks user data like a sieve, lacks very nearly every feature Steam has (most notably, ratings, reviews and cloud-based save options), and is 40% owned by Tencent - the company that’s *so very friendly* with the Chinese government that it’s in charge of building China’s draconian “social credit” system.

Yeah, we did read it and anyone with half a brain just rolled their collective eyes. Did you watch 60 Minutes? He wasn’t anti-anything. He’s a realist. You and your ilk on the other hand continue to live in fantasy land of ‘free everything’. You folks who think everything is a god given right really need a reality

He’s got my vote and I don’t even know his positions on the issues...purely being himself and not tied to a political party.

Epic is extremely slow to updates regarding STW, and that is sometimes off putting because you get to deal with lots of bugs for several days if not weeks.

Seems to me that Ann Coulter’s tweet proves she doesn’t understand the difference between a citizen and someone who happens to be in the area the time.

It’s just a bizarre phenomenon especially prominent in multiplayer games. And the thing is, the game is objectively bad. It barely works, it’s riddled with bugs, the core gameplay loop is obviously, woefully flawed. So anyone enjoying it is enjoying it despite it being bad.

it came out on PS4PS3 only in Japan in 2009
