As someone in my 40’s who is pregnant and went through Ivf… the reality of falling pregnant in your 40’s is incredibly tough. At 48 it’s very rare with your own eggs. To do so you would have harvested eggs from a younger age. So yes the warning from drs to freeze eggs under 30 is very real and I wish women were

This news made me feel good, for her and me. I’m 43 and married later in life, a few years ago, and I’ve had one failed pregnancy this year. We just did another round the other day so I'm hoping I'm pregnant now too (fingers crossed)

Very sorry you went through this! I had my son when I was 47 (wife was 40, and the little lug was 11 pounds at birth; still don’t know how she did it). He’s now 15. I’m more interested in the world of folks his age than I ever would have been otherwise.

Mom for the first time at 38 here, and this is true. However (my husband and I talk about this a lot) even though we no longer have the physical energy/resilience to do the job as well, there’s a massive payoff in patience and maturity, which are at least equally important in having a kid. 20 year-old me was an

Young Keanu in Parenthood as Tod... brilliant.

This is only tangentially related to your point, but I’m gonna share anyway. Every other year I teach a class on women directors, and the content skews towards women-centered narratives, too. My husband typically rewatches the films with me during the term.

That’s a good list of ‘not to be fucked with’ animals... I’d like to humbly advise that you include the mighty skunk too. Not that it’s going to kill you, but it will cover you in misery for weeks.

You don’t have to confront water moccasins, they will confront you. I was a surveyor in Florida for a couple of decades and I ran into lots of snakes in the woods. Everybody’s afraid of rattlesnakes, of course, but when rattlesnakes see you they will almost always try to get away; the exception is when you are

I am wildly confused by this whole situation. She says it’s been a month since she glued her hair down, but it’s still sticking flat to her head? In a month has her hair not grown at all? Has her scalp not shed any skin flakes? Shouldn’t she have a weird slick helmet on top of new growth and dandruff?

I feel like I should speak up for a (probably small) demographic. I care deeply about abortion rights, and have since I was about 10. BUT I don’t always click on each story for the simple reason that 1. I know it will piss me off and I have a 4yo in lockdown and can’t afford to lose any more patience than I already do

Excellent article, so well researched and written.

I like the phrase ‘gender-affirming’, especially in relation to surgery like this. I don’t think I’d heard it before today, so thank you for enlightening me. Gender affirmation sounds so much more positive than gender reassignment or other phrases.

Shut the fuck up.

Thank you. This is the thing to consider. Then keep your opinions to yourself, particularly if you are a man considering correcting a woman at the gym.

I cannot find any fault for this well researched and honest listing. Firmly grounded in reality for all candidates. Doesn’t shit on any one.

She “can’t win” meaning that people are going to find fault with her regardless of what she does, because some people are assholes.

I cannot help but think that our collective ignoring “colorado” helps make more “colorados” happen.

I’m not finished reading this, but,

There was nothing sexual about that scene.

The Whills. You can’t see them without a special Midi-chlorian microscope, but they’re just going to town on one another.
