Seems to me, we started in the mid-1940s by putting military bases in Germany and then sending American soldiers over with their wives to have kids that could develop in the youth programs there. With unlimited money? Open up a few bases in eastern Spain and maybe mid England and hope more of those 8 year old Army

Yeah, the average fan usually is within a minute of how long is going to be added.

Heh. My husband and I are trying to figure out what to tell his family for the few hours we slip away during the 4th of July for a few of the quaterfinals. I'm unabashed in letting my husband know what I think of Diego Forlan or Pep Guardiola or Cesc Fabregas, but since we watch a ton of games together, he also knows

Sure you can. All schools have a code of conduct that students are expected to abide by. It's not illegal to cheat on a paper—you're not going to be arrested for it—but you sure as shit can get kicked out of school for it.

Wait, what? Yeah, sure, I blame Martha Wong personally for the fact that the bill got out of committee (she was voted out of her district the next election), but the constitutional ban had to go to the entire state for a vote.

Molly Ivins said "Redistricting is original form of nine-dimensional chess, the purest (only self-interest applies) and the most complicated (it depends on party, race, class, supreme court rulings, demographic, economic and sociological trends) form of political warfare."
She was talking about the Democrats at the

A lot of people forget that this is a really, really, really big state with lots of people in it. Hell, I forget it and I'm a 9th generation Texan. I live in Montrose inside the Loop in Houston, and we may as well be living on one of the coasts, because no one here cares at ALL. Our mayor just got married to her

HIPAA doesnt' apply to students, but FERPA does. That's not ok.

I sort of thought that Frank Black would be part of the tribute, given how much the Pixies and Nirvana loved each other.

We live five blocks away. My husband thought that our part of Montrose was burning, and violated a few traffic laws to get home. When he realized that the dogs were safe, he ventured a little further and got as close as a block away. The heat was unbelievable. I could see the smoke from my building in the Med

I totally would have benefited from a program like this. I probably needed a year to clear my head and figure out what I wanted to do before plunging headlong into college. I certainly needed a little real world experience.

Montrose can be kid friendly, but the Heights may be more of what you're looking for, as it's definitely culture, arts, food etc, but with a bigger emphasis on family. I plan on raising my kids in Montrose, but there are a lot of younger couples and singles in the area than there are big families.

I love it when Bey's Houston accent slips. She did it more in the Destiny's Child years, but every now and then she'll still say something that makes it clear she grew up in Houston.

Oh god! I wouldn't dream of living anywhere else of Houston proper. I've lived here 35 of my 40 years in pretty much the center of the dart board that is Houston. I currently live in Montrose, but I grew up in the Med Center area. It's a GREAT city. Very friendly, very diverse. Lots of green space. Hot as hell in

I'm in Houston. We're not scary at all!

Oh, this one I can answer, since I'm also from Texas.

We all grew up watching TV the same way everyone else did. So we know that bland accent. We use it when we think we have to. More formal work, when we're talking to customer service people, on national interviews. But we also know when to turn on our local accent

Is that more important for Allen or your analysis of Allen?

Exactly. And so am I. But I'm also Hispanic. It's not an either/or sort of thing.

Just as an FYI, when those of us who check off Hispanic on forms, we are then prompted to go to the next box to check off race, which usually is white, black, asian, or native american. It's not an either/or thing, unless it specifically says "non-Hispanic white."
