Unfortunately, he is all about small block chevy V8s. Though typically old ones, not the ubiquitous LS-whatever.

If he buys it and puts a turbo kit on the flathead six I will sing his praises to the gods.
“Also, if the Powell boys could build a whole car outta just, y’know, stuff why couldn’t I?”
Just shy of sixteen K(andles)? Let me get my sweater vest.
Yesss.
My GF in (and after) college bought a lightly used 92 or 93 Maxima SE with a manual trans and limited slip in 96 or so. That was a super sweet car, and a lot cheaper than an M5, and a lot cheaper to maintain, but M5 is my answer.
The Maxima 4DSC was my first thought, too. It was about perfect — a great balance of style, performance, affordability, reliability, etc. Now the entry into sport sedan territory seems to be $55K or more to get into an Audi or BMW, and neither of those brands are terribly smart financial moves for the average Dad…
This is a good answer. Also, once these cars hit the 2nd/3rd owners, they were VERY popular among younger people who loved cars.
With this mileage, I’m surprised the Cali sun hasn’t ruined the clear-coat. The rear window in the soft top looks clear and un-yellowed as well. Not sure if it’s original or not though.
I can hear the 3800 now.
The 3800 was such a great motor, road trips were great, just let it loaf along at 75mph and get 32 mpg (epa rated at 29 originally now says 26 hwy but easy 30+ hwy was reality), my bladder often gave out well before the gas tank as would cover about 450 miles before the fuel light came on. That was with a 4 speed auto…
Rob, that Buick is a beaut. I remember these cars. Dad had one for a while. Rode like a cloud on the freeway. The Sunday crowd thought it was a little “too much” with the luxurious grille and chrome alloys. They dont make em like they used to. Why doesn’t the fella list this in the Sunday Classifieds so I can call him…
Parts car only. I would almost guarantee there is terminal rust in the shock towers in the front.
just about. but definitely not for this car. lots of red flags with those “simple” fixes that curiously are not fixed.
Oh my sweet innocent child. Where have you been the past 4 years?
Insane price. Does anyone else see that interior as brown rather than blue? No matter which color, No Dice.
I came here just to say that. Well done sir, well done.
You can just pack stuff for s’mores if you’re driving on 285
What’s wild to me is that this is the bus/RV/limo thing that literally started my career at Jalopnik. I wrote about this exact coach as my first-ever article here nearly four years ago!!
