Poor User interface is more likely the problem. The system isn’t notifying people that they need to pay attention fast enough. A person needs something like 200ms to hit the brake pedal....and that’s if they are pay attention.

The “problem” is that FCA (and Tesla) have designed systems that don’t take into account how people actually act in the real world. A system can be technologically-engineered perfectly, but if people don’t know how to use it, then it fails at its job, and that’s bad design.
Here’s the main problem.
Much like an older Jeep or anything in the FCA group the women in the photo requires round the clock maintenance.
I always like how this picture explains how a turbo works:
This is a sober and measured comment.
Hmmm that’s not quite true- in any deep water environment breast stroke is actually far more useful.
Are you really arguing the guy who won 8 gold medals in one Olympics is overrated?

How is Fortune openly sabotaging him? They told it like it is, and questioned the legal implications of not reporting the accident until much later and after selling $2b in stock. I think Fortune digging deep into Musk shouldn’t be surprising, and frankly I’m shocked they are the only publication researching and…
I have met Musk and spoke to him for a bit at a press event. It . . . would not surprise me.
That’s actually a good point. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Musk himself went around leaving positive comments on articles about him.
I don’t think he meant to, Elon has had a lot on his plate lately and was probably just working on autopilot.
For those who need to scratch the itch, 4:00:
I’ve driven with it and talked to a few friends who have it, and I woudln’t be surprised if occassionally it screws up and crashes.
It’s sort of like letting a teenager drive your car for you. They can do it but you’d better be paying attention.
I’m beginning to suspect something similar to Toyota’s unintended…
I thought the Hillary excuse would be default, being extremely reckless but can’t prove intent.
My god, same here. For something that poses such obvious risks to the occupants as well as other drivers, I can’t believe it didn’t get more scrutiny or go through some kind of government testing.
Agree. An underdeveloped system that’s being marketed inappropriately as already fully autonomous.
To be honest, back when it was announced that the autopilot feature was to be enabled, I was surprised it was even legal.
