You’re joking or trolling right? Qualifying in a 24 hour race means absolutely nothing after the green flag drops and after the checker falls it means less than nothing.

...And Ford just had another gearbox failure. They’re going to have to take it apart now.

Next year Ford will enter 10 cars to further increase their odds of finishing or taking a podium spot.

A ford with transmission issues, shocking!

I don’t know. I couldn’t do it. I’m replacing everything that seems bad before selling it.

Ummmm, isn’t Ol’ Billy Dee still chillin’ like a villain w/ a Colt 45. ?

Did you ask your partner before you left this comment

Teams have to submit data for several metrics that give the organizers a fairly clear picture of whats going on. Engine RPM, Throttle position, boost pressure, gear position, and so on.

Yeah that's called LMP1

According to the people watching closely (including the drivers in other teams), the Fords suddenly went 4 seconds faster in qualifying than they had been running in free practice and at the test day 2 weeks ago. It was very clear that things were going on at the test day, as all 4 Ford GTs were lapping within 0.07

even if they waited till the race to show their full performance potential they would've been handed time penalties at the end of the race

I just think it’s fantastic that the 24 Hours of Lemons has been influential enough in racing to spawn something bigger.

You compete in a different class if you want to target max innovation...that's not a goal of LMGTE, costs would go up significantly and you'd lose a lot of the field.. IIRC, LMP1 has no balance of performance provision during the season.

Just looking at the lap times should tell you something’s up. Last year, the GT pole sitter ran a 3:54.9 in qualifying. This year, the Ford GTs and 488s were running 3:55s in practice sessions but managed to run 3:51s and 3:52s in qualifying, while the rest of the GT field was still running 3:55s, with only a single

First they were slow, then they were really fast. Generally speaking of course.

I’ll have to assume you’re not a Smokey Yunick fan. Creative interpretation of the rules have been part of Motorsport since the day after the first rule book was released. The Illmor/Benz indy motor was created in the grey area and was promptly banned. Chaparral sucker car, Tyrrell 6 wheeler, Brawn’s fueling system

It is 50 years after their win. As if 50 is any different from 49 or 51 in the grand scheme of things.

I was seriously disappointed they weren’t running in the top class too, and I LOVE GTLM. (BOP will favor the GTs and Ferrari’s, like it favored the 911 when it returned to GTLM classes 2 year ago, but I’ll still be rooting for the guys in yellow...)

I honestly couldn’t care less about this Ford GT at LeMans. The original was awesome because it set a goal for the overall win against all nay-sayers. This one isn’t proving anything.
