I don't take offense, and I always appreciate the constructive disagreements. I get that it's frustrating because I'm sure there are TONS of people who don't tip simply because they are cheap, or because they are snooty.

They work as servers because the tips they can make are more than they would make working for the minimum wage. They aren't doing it because they have no options. I am awesome at my job every single fucking day because I make a living doing it and I'm not a pretentious asshole who wants money for walking in the door regardless of how they act.

But my point is you know the system before you get into the industry. You KNOW it. So why not just slap on a fake smile, be a decent person regardless of what's going on at home and get your money. It's not insane to suggest that you should be decent at your job, whatever it is.
