It's extra from the customers perspective, which is a slight on the restaurant industry as a whole. It shouldn't leave server wages up to the customers, but it does. As such really great servers can make a pretty decent living.

I don't blame the server for anything but their attitude.

You're right. No one has ever looked for a job while they had a job. Looking for another job is just a stones throw from starvation.

I'm not self important. that's just the facts. You are a server. If you are BAD at your job, you shouldn't expect extra money. If you don't want to deal with the whims of customers, then DON'T SERVE CUSTOMERS.

Dude, if you don't like your job as a waiter, find something else. I'm sorry but you should be decent at your job. If you job includes you being a decent person then you need to deal with that fact.

THEN DON'T BE A SERVER. For fuck sake. Be decent at your job, if you cna't be fucking decent, get a different job where you don't have to deal with people.

I'm all for human compassion, but really, it's life. I'm not going to befriend and talk to every stranger that is a douche to me to see what's really bugging them. I'm sorry.

So based on my comments, you think the opposite of what I am actually saying? Suit yourself.

I'd really rather not, as it would take a while to type out, and it would do nothing to change your mind, nor do I really care to try to change your mind.

Depends on the job and your status I suppose. But then again those people worked to get there. The more you work the more liberties you get.

No one is forcing them to work as a waiter. No one forced me to work where I worked in highschool/college.

Yeah I corrected that elsewhere. It was confusing phrasing on my part. I meant I don't send food back unless there is something wrong with it (like it's raw, or they put something on it I'm allergic to) and I don't NOT leave a tip unless the service is exceptionally bad.

Concise, I like it.

I don't need to cover anything. If they were even halfway decent at their job I would have tipped them normally. I don't need to cover anyone being shitty at their job.

I'm saying don't be a dick, and you'll get a tip. It's nothing more than that. And that's really not that unreasonable.

If it wasn't optional, it would be included. The fact that you have a line, and an option of what to put on it, makes it optional.

I don't recall my mom putting me in a sack, but I don't remember anything before I was 5 or so. You might be right.

I tip if service is decent and upward. I've not tipped maybe 3 times in 5 years for terrible service.

If I had a bad day and my boss sent me home I'd be adult enough to realize he had a reason. If you work based on what people think of your service, be good at it.

A sack? Why would you put shit in a sack?
