This might be the first Hot Take on a Calvin and Hobbes strip. Next I want to hear your opinion on whether Hobbes is considered elite at Calvin Ball.

I read the Dad a little different. He’s essentially an older Calvin who has given in to conforming to societal roles, or at least given in the minimum amount to conform. The Dad is taking off his work suit, clothes he doesn’t want to wear, but is required to, rattling off vague platitudes that every single boy gets

At first I wondered what he would do if they didn’t win. Then I wondered what he would do if she said no. I’m guessing both situations would involve heavy drinking.

Is Jet’s pizza really as good as I’ve heard? Or is it “good for a chain” or “good for a small town with limited pizza options” good?

Seconding (or 9thing at this point) Pequods. If you can, stop by the original location in Morton Grove (just north of Chicago on 94) then go to the dive bar next door, the Bringer Inn, for cheap beer. In my 20's, the Bringer Inn’s kitchen closed at an early hour after which they let you bring in outside food.

It’s probably not some random kid dropping a racist note in a black kid’s locker. They ought to be talking to kids, figuring out who had a problem with him. Kids talk, it’s not the mafia.

Of course the problem could be they have too many racist kids that it could’ve been any number of them.
