I think that last part is key: not having grown up with the original. I also enjoyed this Jim Carrey vehicle, and growing up without a TV I hadn’t seen the classic animated version a million-times before seeing this, so that for me, there was nothing sacrilegious about it. At first I was confused about all the hate on

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, christmas cookie scene, hilarious plot twists. I think it was actually one of the first slasher movies I ever saw. Nice balance of comedy and horror, may not hold up if I were to watch it again

Staring at the word “vacating” in the first paragraph.  Looks like I “remembered” to mark Opposite Word Day on my calendar.

I also really enjoyed the book. I had seen the movie first (good cast) and was later blown away by all that had been omitted. I think a new adaptation could still be really good in the right hands.  A series would be a wise choice.

I really disliked spending time with that kid.

Or the Miller/Romita Jr Daredevil miniseries “Man Without Fear," in which Matt Murdoch is fresh out of law school, young and inexperienced.

Eh. These are all the same whines they had about the pilot. Three seasons later it still consistently makes me laugh, even on rewatch.

Oh weird, Jena Malone is an exact anagram of Janelle Monae!!

50% of all marriages end in sweatpants!

This reminds me I need to watch Toni Erdmann at some point

Co co co vid vid vid...

Robbie is so good in this movie. The way Harley ticks off psychoanalytical commentary from time to time just floored me. The physical comedy, my god. Coming out of paralysis on the couch ... roller skate stomp-kicks ... yes, the love for the egg sandwich. There’s this one second bit she does with her eyes (I wish I

“...And I thank God every day I knew the lyrics to Enter Sandman.”

apparently (and this should not be a shock) there is a *lot* of subtext about class.... if you’re deeply familiar with contemporary korean culture. i read some stuff on it outside of the movie, but even then i only sort of understood what they were going for

Did you catch that Angela referred to her “40 year old companion”- not an aid and you usually wouldn’t care what age they were? It’s depressing that the person who drove Herb’s firing seems to be queer herself

Bumblebee (the movie) is about a soldier trying to help his friends while a girl tries to grow up. That’s GREAT for a Transformers movie! There’s no business about King Arthur having fought with the Transformers or the pyramids being a signalling device to a moon transformer or a frenzied man jamming his boxers into

It’s not a shocker that something from 1989 hasn’t aged great. It’s okay to think it wasn’t malicious and also think this is the right call.

They just completely abandoned his force sensitivity other than “a feeling” a couple times.

Right.

Your worries will turn into outright panic once you see the third one. It really wasn’t all that good. Felt like watching a FPS on a console than a film. Only with Halle Berry doing some of the shooting.
