I thought Rosemary Harris did a great job with that version of the character though. She was as good an embodiment of a Spider-Man character as J.K. Simmons, though necessarily less entertaining.

Maybe it really won't be an origin story and Uncle Ben won't be in it. That'd be a step in the right direction for this. But realistically it seems like he'd at least show up in a flashback.
