Eh, I don’t get how ppl would romanticize the train after taking it every day for, say, a month. Also a lot of the people I’m thinking of are from NYC so I doubt they’re that taken with the train for that reason? IDK, but I’ve never gotten the impression New Yorkers (or other city dwellers for that matter) think of

Yep. I live in/near Logan square, too. I feel like this is as close to being doxxed as I want to be and now I’m tempted to ditch this burner!!

Yeah I’m kind of talking about a city where there’s not always an efficient train line and sometimes the only available public transit is the bus, so ppl take cabs rather than the bus.

Yeah I think that’s at least a part of it. I definitely know people who drive rather than use public transit regardless of relative time/cost value, but I feel like it’s extra weird to take the train but refuse the bus, excepting in cases like other commenters mentioned where they get motion sickness from driving

Interesting. A specific bus or buses in general? I take trains and buses every day and I think I get the same amount of invasive contact on both. I get way more creepy contact just as a pedestrian, TBH. In my experience amount/degree of creepism depends more on the time of day and the specific lines.

Fair enough.

Eh, you can adjust to anything. I’d rather take my bus/train combo because I can read or zone out or whatever and I am a nervous driver, but it’s all relative.

Yeah they are amazing. This video is terrifying, it brought me to tears.

I guess it depends. It’s certainly not exceptional if you’re thinking of kids like BD, young and with cognitive disabilities.

You don’t have to live a place to have an opinion about/perceptions of its residents. Yes, ppl complain everywhere but this specific tic I’ve observed from NYC residents (usually non-natives who seem really defensive of the place and their choice to live there) is usually new-york centric. I’m not condemning the place

While it might be the most ludicrous and coerced confession a lot of people have seen, it’s far from exceptional irl. What happened to BD is shamefully common.

Fair. TBH I really like New Yorkers and New York. And kvetching. Just looking for ppl to temper their exceptionalism, maybe with a little consistency.

So you can live in NYC or you can live in a “boring/rural/homogenous/small town,” but you blame “the media” - an industry with a notable power center in NYC - for my impressions that NYCers have a superiority complex, and not the behavior of people who live there.

LOL. If that’s what you need to believe so that my opinion doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable, you have at it. Alternatively you can not care if my opinion is different from yours.

Also climbers. I do not recommend dating climbers.

I’m not saying every NYCer is like this or one can’t complain about commuting mishaps or what have you. Maybe to experience my particular annoyance you have to live one of the places NYers tend to look down on, such as any other place on god’s green earth.

People in most other cities don’t collectively whine to the same degree while also acting like total superior snobs about every other locale. You have to admit that it’s a combo that gets a little obnoxious.

Seriously people who live in NYC are so self-indulgent and obnoxious about their city. I like NYC, and have always enjoyed the time I spend there. But NYCers act like they are the only people experiencing seasons, and like the things they complain about aren’t the direct byproducts of the very things the exalt about

Exactly - Any diet can be deficient if it isn’t planned. Many Omnivores believe that simply by being omnivores they are meeting their nutritional needs, no other thought required. That’s not the case, no matter your restrictions or lack of restrictions.

Same here - ppl who have figured it out plz tell me how.
