Imagine if you get to the "end" of the game and it turns out that this band is literally the final boss. The game pauses and a message shows up on the screen that says "Please connect your Guitar Hero controller to continue."

Are you saying it's impossible for different people to come to the same conclusion on something totally independently from one another?

I feel one of the biggest mistakes Bungie made was not making the Grimoire accesible via the game. There is so much neat backstory and stuff (albeit not enough to fully flesh out the game) in there and it is hidden away on a companion app or website.

I'm okay with that though, it actually makes sense because it's in line with the kind of game they're trying to make. It's not like it's a single-player game where you need to be connected to play it.

That's the game they made. It's an mmo — not some arbitrary requirement. Don't want Chinese food? — don't to to a Chinese buffet.
