My dad is black, my mom is white. I look like a tan white guy. I’ve been referred to as white passing because of what I look like NOT because of my behavior or how I act. That’s what white passing means. A person who passes as white.

This time last summer my company held big town halls and promised diversity pushes. The CEO stopped short of promising anything and instead leaned on creating DEI committees and getting their recommendations on how the company can become more diverse.

She should have scrubbed her social media accounts. Especially since she was fairly high-profile.  Teen Vogue should have done their research a bit more too.

The wild thing to me is that AZ min wage is already $12.  Sinema was against $15 fed but said she’d be ok with $11.  Does she think her states current min wage is too high?  THATS the message.

Unless this tracks in real-time and has some sort of communication function what’s the point?  You know where your kid is/what they may be doing but can’t intervene.  It’s only going to make you worry more, not less.

I think it’s good to hold a mirror to them, make them hear themselves say that nonsense. And maybe you’ll lose some friends along the way. I have and I can say in hindsight (always 20/20 I know) those I lost because I spoke up about shit like this weren’t true friends.

Anecdotally here 2 out of the like 10 of my friend group are able to get one.  And that includes trying to buy those bullshit gamestop bundles. 

Was watching The ReidOut yesterday and Harriot broke it down pretty succinctly: In Minneapolis cops used chokeholds 370 times in the last 3 years. 60% of those were used on black people. Black folks make up only 18% of Minneapolis population.

Best piece of advice my mom gave me was “you can always take more, but you can’t take less”.

The former mayor of San Diego Kevin Faulconer is also running on a platform of Newsom mishandled COVID which is rich because while he was mayor San Diego had a really bad Hep A outbreak within the unhoused community.
