LOL no dude, they def checked your credit score. There’s a system that banks use called ChexSystems and Telecheck. Not all banks use them but you’d have to know to look those banks up and most are those weird online only banks.

I used to have US bank, they CHARGED me to get paper checks or $5 for a cashiers check. And being a member of a credit union requires good credit.

If you’ve ever had an overdrawn account close it makes it difficult to open another account at another bank. And credit unions take your credit score into account when deciding if they’ll let you open an account.
