“Ma’am, can I show you something? See, your electron filters are all gunked up with ions. I can take care of that for you today, if you’d like. Also, it looks like the last place you went to may have installed temporary magnets in your motor instead of the permanent ones your car calls for, so I’ll go ahead and get

There can also be much lashing in that photo.

I prefer gears for my sex, umm, gear.

Having helped launch a couple EVs, I think everyone needs to consider that mass adoption of these cars will take a LOT longer than is assumed. The time for the EV market to hit critical mass will be enormously different to what’s happening the with the small, ultra-high-end niche today. Moneyed, status-conscious buyers

Cutaways, real or illustrated, are the best car porn.

Couldn’t make it through an article about Porsche’s electric car huh...I suggest a break from social media

I think both of you are correct, with maybe Torch having a (cynical yet probably realistic) slight edge. I mentioned this on the original Taycan post.. but if I’m making $250k a year.. then that extra $70k for (on paper) less performance and way less range matters to me. If I’m making $2.5M a year.. then I’m buying

Done and done:

i’m old(ish) money and i live in Virginia and i drive a Model S P100D.  you could not be more dead wrong.

Oh, so you’ve driven and sat in a Taycan huh? Interesting.

How many people have posted here that they would not buy an EV because of charging issues?

The Model S feels at least $50k over priced in top level trim, they’re very cheap feeling at the $120k price point

Nobody was going to cross-shop a Tesla and a Porsche anyway.

The Mode S tops out about 50k Less than what the Taycan starts at. For an Entry level Taycan, you could get a Model S Performance and a loaded BMW 3-series. These cars aren’t competitive with each other because they aren’t in the same orbit it terms of price.

nicer and better built probably but handle? Perhaps a bit better but the model S handles very nicely as well.

Oh please, yes they are. The lineup of available EVs is small enough that every potential EV owner is cross-shopping with Tesla in some way.

People will.

185K? So, Tesla still has the market cornered on the whole premium EV sedan with the Model S then. I admittedly haven’t paid that much attention to this things development, but I thought this was actually meant to be a Model S competitor. At that price.... no.

Calling an EV a “Turbo” is absurd. I really dislike this blurring of automotive terms practiced by BMW, Mercedes, and now Porsche. It’s very un-German of them. The German language probably has a very specific word for precisely this type of thing.

Also, your phone doesn’t even need an internet connection for the lock/unlock to work as long as your Bluetooth is turned on.
