I’ve owned 3 EVs now and I just assume I only REALLY have 60% of the stated range.  If you can accept that and plan accordingly, you’ll do fine.  If not, you’ll be dissapointed.

I can’t star this enough. If you don’t have an EV or haven’t spent time using the different charging options, you have no idea how important this is and how big of an advantage Tesla has. Tesla chargers just work. You back up and plug in. They are every where. Other networks are a complete crapshoot. I’ve stopped

“a bit of implied shade” in an article about Tesla from Jalopnik :).  Are you new here?

Doesn’t matter if I like Tesla or not. She purposely took a jab at Tesla, just as Jalopnik regularly does. You’re welcome to hate the look of my car all you want but do you really expect us to believe you’ve NEVER found yourself waiting for some reason in a car and it wouldn’t have been nice to have some

Exactly. The use case for this is painfully obvious. Not only do people spend time in EVs waiting for them to charge (road trips w/superchargers), everyone has been stuck at some point in time waiting for someone to run into the store or waiting for their kid after school etc. For Elizabeth to pretend this is a

Hating on Elon doesn’t count. I’ve literally never seen any review of any of their cars that resulted in a this thing sucks don’t buy it conclusion. Everyone who’s ever driven them likes/loves the actual product.

I wonder if Jalopnik will bitch and moan about the availability of the $60k version? Never mind, we know the answer. They only do that to Tesla.

This is the approach Tesla has taken.  Most superchargers are in decent areas with nice restaurants around.  It’s a very pleasant way to kill 30 min shopping and eating.

This!  Everyone is always going to bring out a Tesla killer but they never do.  I had a BMW i3.  Public charging networks are a total crapshoot.  I got a Tesla and the difference is night and day.  No one else is even close to them.

How significant does the change have to be to be deemed a refresh? Tesla didn’t event consider the new front nose of the Model S to be a refresh. Since they constantly change the car instead of waiting for model years, don’t refreshes become less important? For example, things that have changed on the X & S are:

Where is the McLaren vs Tesla kid car shootout?

Um, in any apples to apples comparison, AP wins hands down. The data proves that there are fewer accidents per average mile driven when comparing driver in seat with AP vs driver in seat without AP. Likewise, if you were to compare asshole driving from backseat with AP vs asshole driving from backseat without AP, I

I think with your own Birdbox example videos you proved that Tesla has absolutely nothing to do with this as stupid people do stupid things ALL THE TIME!

Do you also worry about your phone catching fire because that has happened once or twice before. Lithium Ion batteries are everywhere. While fires do happen, the likelihood of you being affected is so small, it virtually non-existent.

Definitely a great list. Subaru should use the Sasquatch name. They are practically the official car of Oregon anyway so it would fit. Tesla’s Model X with new adaptive suspension is called the Raven so at least someone digs the name.

So, driver falls asleep and instead of instant death like in any other car, the Tesla kept him safely in his lane and there was no accident. Damn it Elon!

Counterpoint - until you’ve gone months or years without ever visiting a gas station, you don’t realize how truly freeing it is. Generally, they are kind of crappy places that drastically overcharge on everything they sell because they are capitalizing on the convivence of selling stuff while you get the gas you need.

There are times where I’m heading home and go “I’ll get gas later” and pull in. Then the next morning I have to get gas on the way to work. With an EV thats not really an option.”

No because when they turn into slicks, its just like a racing car so you have more traction when the pesky tread is finally gone ;).
