I’ve found the Rain-X washer fluid really does help, too. Can’t get much more simple to apply than pouring into the reservoir.
I did exactly this to my ‘67 Mustang. It came to me with front drums and after one panic stop almost sent me into a guard rail i decided a front disc upgrade was totally worth it.

I had one of these that worked wonders on filters. Sadly it was stolen with all of my tools in a break in a few years ago. Craftsman Sliding wrench, hooks up to a ratchet, clamps down as you turn.
