Hm, "Stevie Nicks-biting lounge singer act" wasn't supposed to be a compliment.

My beard is way better than Sean's.

You are correct. I would not have sex with a dead prostitute in my bed. I would call the police, and then buy a new bed.

Hey OrangeCrush, to each his own and all that, but if you're going to disown us based on our opinion of She & Him, well, I'm proud to disagree with you!

Rex and 37th Chamber are here. I expect to see That Western Skyline any second now …

Dawes jokes are worth a lot less than $6.

Added. Thanks!

This is a very good-sounding live recording that presents WO in a more rocking format vs. the records. It might hook you in: http://www.nyctaper.com/?p=…

You're thinking of Pomplamoose. I assure you that Wye Oak is not Pomplamoose.

I think you might enjoy a feature we have going up at noon.

Hey Jay, thanks for pointing this out. We made the correction above.

You are cruel, Gary X.

Unfortunately, there were some screwy things going on with my ballot as it was posted at midnight. But it has since been restored to the proper rankings and point totals. As it is, the Vile record just missed the Top 25. (An earlier draft of my ballot is what got originally posted. I had Vile ranked higher there, but

I actually love Rod Stewart—particularly his early 70s solo work and everything he did with the Faces. (C'mon, you GOTTA love the Faces.) Also: I actually like "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy," or at least don't mind it. I originally had that qualifier in the review, but it got a little wordy. At any rate, that song was

We don't have any current plans to review it. We generally don't review greatest-hits records.

Good point. We touch on this in the podcast but it bears repeating: A good review does more than say "This is good" or "this is bad." Hopefully, you also have a chance to discuss why something works, or why it doesn't. A bad review isn't inherently mean-spirited; the tone and content of a review are also important.

Hm, I honestly don't get how this applies to We're No. 1 or Alt-Nation. Is this snobbery you're talking about specific to Huey Lewis records? Because I think your take on my SPORTS essay is pretty reductive. Many of the We're No. 1 essays (and Alt-Nation) were about records I like or love, so again I don't get where

You are probably correct. I apologize in advance.

Hey Headcleaner, I appreciate your curiosity on this, so I'll answer you question in the most direct way I know how: I wrote about this record because I wanted to.

We do lots of reviews of lesser-known artists, and will continue to do so. But guess which review has been read the most and generated the most comments this week? (Meanwhile, my Cass McCombs review has two comments.)
