Lone: For the record, there are parts of that REM blog I don't agree with anymore. It happens when you put your opinions in print; opinions charge over time, but print holds them in place forever. That said, I don't think the REM post (or the Hold Steady post) are presumptuous any more than any other piece of writing

Hey Dr., are you saying my opinion was middling in the piece above, or in the comment i just wrote above? Because I think the piece above goes well beyond "I liked it okay," as well as the reductive way you described it. But I get where you're coming from and appreciate the feedback.

Hey guys! First off, I'm flattered that somebody still remembers that REM blog post from three years ago. Though saying I tried to "drug and rape" REM seems to be overstating things a wee bit. But, hey, I appreciate the shout out, and the fact that some readers have apparently extrapolated their feelings about that

I inserted the Wilco reference to up the comment count on this review. I also made several references to the greatness of Fall Out Boy and the superior music taste of hipsters, but those appear to have been edited out.

This sounds right.

Hey Amelie, remember that time I poked my head in your office and said hello? Didn't think so. But I wish you the best of luck anywho. I might even try watching "The Office" again.

That "damaged goods" line from "The Late Shift" crossed my mind, too. Good call.

I think Conan doing The Tonight Show was a mistake, pure and simple. For as long as I've been alive, The Tonight Show has never been a hotspot for cutting-edge comedy. (In recent years, it hasn't even been a place for comedy.) For better or worse, it's built more for someone with Leno's sensibility. Now Conan can move

But did you get that this was the only movie about a hotel for dogs this year?

AP style is RBIs.

I love ALL Ween records.

Since I got the Warren Moon joke and laughed, I missed the follow-up joke about people not getting the reference. So I think the Moon reference was ALSO the point of the joke.

I'm not saying obscurity automatically equals funny. I thought those jokes were funny on their own merits. I give 30 Rock extra points for going beyond tried and true joke comedic material. I think the show often does this, which is why I don't get some of the comments here about how predictable the jokes supposedly

Yeah, the Al Gore bit fell flat for me, but at least it was quick and fairly painless.

That was me. Re: the R.E.M. piece, there are large chunks of that I don't really agree with anymore. But I appreciate the reference to a blog piece I wrote two years ago!

Yeah, I wonder if he's a smoker. Those bottom teeth were in rough shape.

Good catch on Corddry.

I like this album a lot.

If I could have written about more than 8 records, I would have repped for "Rubber Factory."

Settle down, Ebbv. I like Lullabies and Era, just not as much as the first three records (or Them Crooked Vultures).
