This week sucks. First everything was simplified into Trump vs. the NFL, now it’s Homophobes vs. Macklemore. I have enough hate in my heart for both sides, people!

The United States of America is an illiberal shit-hole of an oligarchy.

Sorry to repeat this one but HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THAT WOULD HAVE GONE INTO THE PUBLIC TREASURY WILL INSTEAD GO INTO THE POCKETS OF THE TRUMP FAMILY AND THE FAMILIES OF HIS CABINET MEMBERS.

Bettman, flanked by Flames

As Bob Costas said on a recent CNN appearance, there’s no anthem being played before movies or plays. Why is it played before sporting events?

And pretty much every military member I’ve seen says that they will stand, and it’s perfectly OK for others to kneel in protest.

I get it when we’re having international competitions and the athletes are explicitly competing for the pride and glory of their countries. But domestic? Especially when, ironically, players in American leagues are getting more and more international? Makes no sense.

Fuck nationalism to begin with! What the fuck does a song and a country have to do with sports anyway?

> ...and felt that he had to stay there while the anthem was played so it didn’t appear that he was walking away.

Ben Roethlisberger introduced the players’ three choices

But I heard they’re a great way to avoid military service, amirite?!

Popovich Pops Off On Piss-Poor POTUS

You know, I usually get annoyed when I tell people I support Spurs and they think I’m talking about the NBA, but I suppose it may not be such a bad mix-up after all.

Remember his feud with the Khans?

Good take from Bob Costas:

Protest in the street? Naw, this is not the time or place, since the protests are disrupting to my commute.

I’m white, but I’m not THAT white.

Me: Wow, everything fucking sucks now. At least I have sports to watch and maybe not think about it for a couple of hours.

They booed at the bar I was in Sunday. At the TV. But no one took off their hat or stood or put down their beer. Which proves the patriotism can’t go through a TV screen. I guess.
