You missed "contracted out under terrible 90's small-government no-oversight idiocy so the manufacturers are getting rich being paid to fix their own screwups". Sort of covered under costly I suppose, but it's a particularly irritating kind of costly. Personally I'd split costly into two, and have "overruns" and "we

That is one heck of an understatement! I don't know if it's the worst cover I've ever seen but it's got to be on the list; it screams "generic romantic fantasy" on the cover of a book that's so very not.

Now playing

Interestingly ( your values of interest may vary), when the book was written that meant grey with flickering little black and white squares. (decent example from youtube, for you whippersnappers that are too young to remember it. (Get off my lawn, by the way). Nowadays a TV tuned to a dead channel is more likely to be

This is good news, thanks for telling us about it. Great jerb, Woernstray!

Maybe the painkiller is in there to stop it hurting even more.

When you fall in the water unexpectedly it's fair enough to complain that it's wet; when you deliberately jump in it's your own fault you're soaked. I won't be watching it.

It's always nice to see a helpful and informative answer to a question. Have an upvote, or a star, or whatever the call them on kinja.

Someone else has seen Ultraviolet?!

Someone else has read this? Excellent. It's a great book.

what are we doing now <bringer of dog food>? I bet it's probably AWESOME! We're visiting some old people and I'm getting belly rubs? AWESOME!

It was a damn good film, one that "got" Dredd the way the Stallone film totally didn't. Karl Urban and Lena Headey were great. It should have been seen by more people and made boatloads of money.

Is that Jackie Chan? I know he's been making films for a while now, but surely he isn't that old?

(Oh, and Hardware was based on a story that was originally in a 2000AD comic, if I remember right. Good story, really good adaptation especially given the low low budget. Also has Iggy Pop doing a cameo as the nihilistic radio DJ - "and now for the good news - there's NO good news!" if I remember right)

What about Westworld? That's an awesome Robot Yul Brynner movie (it stands alone in a genre of one), which makes it an awesome robot movie right?
