Um ... this doesn’t have anything to do with birth defects, but high-dose niacin for high cholesterol is a pretty common treatment (I take 1000-2000 mg daily). There are a lot of humans taking a lot of supplemental niacin. Admittedly, I have never done so while pregnant, being male and all.
