Like the WYTS articles themselves, there is just only so much new to say each year. After like 5 years of these, we’ve covered all the bases with most teams, so the only new stuff to riff on is a handful of offseason roster moves, shenanigans from the previous season, and whoever the new coaches are if applicable.
Yes, a few of these were fantastic, believable (critical), and shared legitimate pain.
You’re not wrong, they’ve adapted. We get two primary types now; long screeds of uniform tone highlighting poor fan behaviour, and short punches that could fit in a standard SMS. I’m pretty sure there used to be more variety, thematically and structurally.
I dunno. I’m starting to think that the fan submissions have lost something overall. They just seem very repetitive as a whole. Like, people know what to write to get Drew to print them and that’s what they write. Who knows... maybe I’ve changed...
