The 3-liter M54 Z3 is the best - effectively as quick as the S52 M version without the badge premium (most of the time).
I guess this gives more reason to drop the money for Motor Trend streaming. I really enjoyed a few of their YouTube shows but going from $0 to $60/yr meant I just punted on watching.
Tire Rack does really good video and detailed text reviews of tires as they come out. With the caveat that my knowledge is not exhaustive: not sure why you’d replace all the lifters. BMW sixes get a little tappy from the lifters from time to time, but it’s often just a need for a bleed (run engine at medium rpm for a couple minutes, no load) to get air out of the lifters. Look at that: the Arizona one is an M56 car. Note the funky vanity cover compared to most E46.
E46 touring fun-fact: the touring has more rear leg room than the sedan even though they’re the same underneath, because the rear seat was pushed backwards slightly. One of those little details that would never happen on a modern car because it would save a couple grand on development. Read more

Went three months carless before I found my E46 touring. That said, there’s a fair amount floating around if (a) you’re willing to travel to get the correct one and (b) if you want a manual, you’re ok with waiting a long time and paying a premium or converting an auto car.
at least the roof is “rapped”
