I think a lot of the fandom with Mad Men is that it's not like most of what's on TV. It's slower, not often predictable, has mostly unlikeable characters. For a period piece show, it isn't gimmicky like a genre show might be. Like the Jonathan Franzen of TV.

Downton Abbey starts out well and turns to garbage plot devices. I still watch mainly for the costuming and a few secondary characters.

Genuine LOL

Ren and Stimpy! Roundhouse! I can name things too!

We haven't seen Mad Men's yet! I expect it to be underwhelming and totally depressing. Don moves to Missouri and drinks himself to death. Joan marries a banker and retires to Connecticut. Sally becomes a punk (that would be cool).

Or a court proceeding where Raylan defends his various crimes interspersed with a clip show.

worst finale to a series that started out so well.

except it will likely only be 5 years; TV is desperate (see Coach reboot)

Thank you for that! I wondered if there was an Elmore link when that book was shown.

Once Winona came back this season I figured Raylan would end up back in Florida somehow. Boyd though, I more expected to die. Or Eva. Or Boyd dying at Eva's hands. It's a true credit to the show that their ending was so satisfying and none of them died. I mean, plenty of others died. It makes a more lasting impression

And given Ava's final words to Boyd, that she did what she thought he would have done [and ran with the money].

My friend and I used to watch in high school when I was fairly adept in my Spanish skills. Our favorite was game shows that looked impossible to win.

This show could be awesome if it had a Deadwood feel. It doesn't though.
Rooting for it to get better since I like the leads.

My cat is named Mitch after Mitch Hedberg.

I love how all of his profanity was conversational and not the least bit vulgar.

I forgot That 70s Show was on that long ago.

It's Science.

It's possible the upcoming Astronaut Wives Club series on ABC was influenced by Mad Men as well. The book of same name is the obvious source, but the push to turn a (mediocre) non-fiction book into a fictionalized series, probably some credit to Mad Men is due.

Deserving. That show gets better each season.
