I don't know about Far Cry 3 but I definitely agree with your point in general. I'd like more normality in games as that makes the unusual stuff more special when it gets going.

It's entirely dependant on the people you are playing with.
We always did Paladins based of the alignment of whatever god they worshipped. I had swashbucklery Paladin of Tymora once:)

Skyrim has a larger issue in that everybody decides that upon getting within a certain distance they will automatically tell you who they and what they do or what they are thinking.
