I kind of think the opposite; I ended up really enjoying 8 but I didn't really like 9 very much after the first disk. The story just seemed really random.

It doesn't make much sense but I do find the notion of a wave of angry bitey corpses surging towards me really disturbing. So on that level I quite like it.
