It’s very important to collect ALL the evidence if the families, governments, or other affected parties want to nail OceanGate to the wall.

Nothing specific, just recognition of older cars in general. Especially by the younger generation. I grew up and started learning about cars in the 1990s. As I get older I am increasingly shocked at how many people, for example, don’t know what a BMW E36 looks like. Or don’t know what a Toyota MR2 Spyder is. I

“You know, there’s a limit. At some point safety just is pure waste. I mean if you just want to be safe, don’t get out of bed...At some point, you’re going to take some risk, and it really is a risk/reward question.

On 2 separate occasions I’ve been given brand new cars. Like, right off the delivery truck. 2010 Charger and a 2019 Camry.

What you say is all true. It’s still important to do a technical failure analysis.

Safety rules and regulations are written in blood.

The QX something or other. Yeah, they are pretty hideous looking. Especially this version:

A debris field was found 1,600 feet off the bow of the Titanic wreck containing the entirety of the pressure hull.

From that angle it’s getting dangerously close to the Oldsmobile and Aurora logos

About 20 years ago I distinctly remember seeing the newly-released Infiniti FX45 on display at my local mall. It looked like the freaking Batmobile and ran on 20" wheels, which were almost unheard of on production cars at the time. Around that time they came out with the G35, which was supposed to be a really good car.

It’s a popular story.  If it’s so bad, why are you here commenting?

IIRC, concerning the number of lifeboats the Titanic complied with safety rules of the day.

From what I’ve learned about the sub, for the occupants these are IMHO the most likely scenarios in order from best to worst:

Don’t forget Contrived Rarity: This car is RARE - just 1 of 69 produced in MY2019 with Incel Orange Metallic, moonroof, blue carbon engine cover and the Off-Road Package.

Horror movie material. I don’t think the Saw movies were even that cruel.

I looked this up last night.  1 atm is roughly 14.7 psi. At the depth of the Titanic, the pressure is about 400 atmospheres. Crunch!

For a new owner to take on this rare and uber-low-mileage Lincoln there’s the small matter of the $59,900 asking price. That has recently been lowered from $65K and is a far cry from the $105K that was asked for the car in a previous attempt at a sale back in 2022.

MSRP for the MKVIII Collector’s Edition was $41k in 1998. Ignoring all other costs related to keeping and maintaining the car, just to keep up with inflation it would have to sell for $77k today to “break even”.

Interesting. Was the 5 GT seating position that much higher than the 7er that it made a difference?
