I have to do bulk mailing a few times a year at my job, and I actually can’t make the USPS system work on Chrome — so in that one instance, Firefox to the rescue! :)

While you’re in Crawfordsville for the Rotary Jail you can also visit a Victorian man-cave — the private Study Lew Wallace built with the money he made from writing Ben-Hur. :)
Have you been to Barbecue & Bourbon in Speedway? I think their tenderloin is the best in the state. :D
Yeah, without the subsidy, I’ll be back to putting off doctor visits until I’m on death’s door, because I have two prescriptions I CAN’T stop without serious effects to my daily life. I’ll have to pay those out of pocket, which was somewhere around $140 a month before the ACA kicked in. But I can’t afford health…
I have a friend who’s a professional dog trainer (clicker training), so I now have two cats that will sit on command, come when called, and beg for a treat. I’m still working on the third cat. He’s a little attention deficit. :D
I’ve been birding casually all my life and have spent the last six years really getting into it, but I’m still terrible at IDing many birds by ear. Every year I add maybe a handful of birdsongs I can reliably remember the next spring. I’ve gotten a little better since I started using the Audubon bird app to help me…
Your conclusions are interesting. I’m actually a fairly avid amateur birder, but terrible at birding by ear. I was thrilled when Song Sleuth came out, but I’ve only ever had one instance where Song Sleuth correctly IDed a bird I wasn’t sure about. Generally speaking, it returns several suggestions that I know are…
Entire article seconded. :) All vegetables are best roasted in olive oil and sea salt. Except radishes—those are best sauteed with onions and chicken broth. Now I’m hungry. :D
Ask her about the Three Laws of Robotics. :D
It only takes one break. A neighbor’s retractable leash broke and the dog ran into the street and was killed in front of their kids. :(
My planning system is a fusion of GTD in a Bullet Journal. I have a collection for each of my contexts, and for my daily to-do list, I have four different colors of ink, and each of them indicates a context. Like you, I have a dedicated paper inbox of things I need to deal with, and I have a tickler file for physical…
The other side of this issue is—has everyone forgotten that apis mellifera is actually invasive to the US? :) Hopefully the seeds are good for our native pollinators, too. I have mixed feelings about how people are all “OMG SAVE THE HONEYBEE” since we don’t actually need that particular species, even if it’s been…
This is brilliant! I have to interact with the public, and on occasion I get that one person who just wants to talk and talk, but nothing related to my actual job. This will come in hand.
Dear Pragmatica,
Yeah, my insurance won’t pay for it in time for me to skip. Then again, my body tells the pill to eff off most of the time, and does its own thing whenever. Since I only take the pill for non-sex-related side effects (clean skin, no cramps, etc.) I put up with it, though. :/
Legit reasons, like paying the employees a living wage. I work at a nonprofit, and our local Walmart is hiring people at a higher hourly rate than I get. I just had to apply for yet another economic hardship deferment on my student loans. *sigh*
Eh, I just wear SmartWool or Darn Tough wool socks, and as someone who hikes a lot, I’ve never had blisters wearing those brands.
The timing of this amuses me — I just quit Whole 30 on Saturday. I’d been trying to do the entire 30-day reset, but turns out I’m one of the people who gets a horrible itchy rash when I go into ketosis (it’s like having poison ivy over about a third of my body) and that just wasn’t worth it.
I’ve been using Arm & Hammer Allergy Luxe pillows for several years now, and I love them. Just the right amount of fill, whether I’m sleeping on my back or my side, and the allergy barrier is a plus.
