My geriatric eyes totally agree with you.

I will miss seeing your extremely interesting, helpful and many times hilarious articles on this site. Lifehacker has many good writers, and you were one of my favorites. Best of luck to you, and I’ll be seeing you on Instagram.

Was coming here to say this.

My tongs and potato masher are hung on Command removable hooks on the inside of the nearest cabinet door: handy, easy to grab, and out of sight.

I love my quarter-sheet pans (Little Sheets by Great Jones*), and I do have 2 of them for exactly the reason you state: more flexibility. I also have an eighth-sheet pan (Nordic Ware*) for my toaster oven, which is also a work horse in our 2-person household.

I’m approaching 70, and despite living in 0ur 3rd house (after moving 9 times during a 50+-year marriage), I love reading things like Claire and Allie are doing because I always come away with new knowledge or a new attitude toward something. One never grows too old to learn.

I am so totally living Weezer’s life right now (except my husband is still alive). Every time we rewatch 9-5 I identify with her even more.

I cook for 2 these days since my children are all grown and gone, and wish I’d known this tip sooner! I tried it myself and it makes having rice readily available so nice and easy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We renovated our house after its 2012 purchase, using Steel Gray granite in the kitchen because it was less expensive than my first choice of quartz. It is a dark gray, with “movement” visible in good light, and because my husband works in the steel industry (engineer), the name of it tickled him. We have had no

In our more than 50 years of marriage, we have owned homes both in and out of HOAs. The last house we purchased, in 2012, will in fact be our last and we searched long and hard to find a house we liked with the features we needed/wanted but with no HOA.

I’ve done this with my flour, corn meal, etc. since being married in 1972, owing to a little notebook of household hints my great-grandmother (RIP Mom Beane!) made for me. Never had a problem with weevils or pantry moths as long as I kept bay leaves in there.

My 3 would ALWAYS do anything my siblings asked without question or whining, even if it was picking up toys or putting on their pajamas. It’s fun now that my grandchildren are the same for me!

Nope. Not the only one.

If ever I make the trip from NC up that way, I’ll look for it. ;)

We bought a saddle-style window unit for our bedroom. It works like a charm, we can still use the window, and mainly, we have a cold bedroom while my 90-year-old mother does not (keeping the central unit set warmer for her sake).

Even the corn syrup-sweetened version of Cheerwine is worth drinking, trust me. At almost 70 years old, I don’t mind admitting it’s my all-time favorite soft drink.

So far reordering through our credit union has been pretty easy. If it ever changes, we may have to start paying Yard Guy in cash.

Our yard is practically all clover now! I love looking out and seeing the bees happily going from blossom to blossom — and pollinating my tomato and other plants too. We don’t mow nearly as often and only use monthly tick spray at the edges of the property (outside the fenced-in area), because we have visiting deer

The only check we actually write these days is to the yard guy. If he ever gets a way for us to pay him electronically, we’ll do that and quit ordering checks.
