Ahhhhhh alright...makes sense now. I knew that pre-detonation was a cause of engine failure in boosted applications, but I just didn't put that together with the capabilities of direct injection. Very cool thanks.

No engine lasts forever, but adding stress to components catalyzes the destructive process over a de-tuned engine.
There are quite a few 2.0L engines capable of 500hp. 4G63, RB20DET, and SR20DET off the top of my head...on stock bottom ends. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the EJ20s can make it to 500hp...or close to it, anyway.
I forgot about that. I've been out of the boosting scene for so long so I'm a noob. What's the benefit of DI over FI in boost applications?
Too much gravel being kicked up for my taste, but whatever gets you to the track!
Too many daydreaming, minivan owners out there complaining about how slow the car is.
But are there a lot of track-tuned production cars that handle dramatically different nowadays? Maybe back in the 1990s and earlier when an M3 was a stark contrast to even a performance-oriented 300ZX, but I don't think it's as much an issue anymore.
These are the kinds of no-bullshit reviews that every car rag should be running. Seriously. I award you 10 points and this Friday off, Mr. Spinelli.
But where do you put the track tires, tool kit, and helmet?
Gonna have to knock that 12.5:1 compression down a few pegs first. Of course, I'm speaking in terms of forced induction :)
I guess the glass-half-full way to see this is that dealers can't inflate prices without demand...so these cars are in demand. And that's awesome.
Definitely new here.
It looks pretty happy that you chose it too ;)
Dealer markup is at play, I'm guessing :/
Well while I was there, it was explained that they used about 5 times the hops in their 10th Anniversary Ruination than they usually do, and also that the anniversary Ruination is a world apart from their regular Ruination. We get regular Ruination here in Florida, so I drink it often. I can attest to the huge…
Sad that there are so many people here taking this situation lightly. But jokes aside, it really is going to be hard to positively identify this vehicle.
I went to the Stone Brewery last week while I was in San Diego. It was an amazing experience — the gardens, the food, the restaurant, of course the beer — it was like a theme park for adults. I walked away with a 2L Growler of their 10th Anniversary Ruination IPA, which was 10.8% ABV (and it was only $27!).
As much as I want to call it a NP, impending repairs are too much of a factor. I know that engine and trans swap wasn't cheap — probably cost $7500 itself (not as desirable as other S38B3x engines), but that's a lot of miles on an engine that is not cheap to repair. There's nothing special about this 7-series in…
Did you even read my comment? I'm guessing either no, or you have trouble with reading comprehension.
Sort of playing devil's advocate here — and no, I don't endorse hitting women by any means — but some girls will mistake that gentleman's courtesy as invulnerability. And I fucking hate that.
